The Michigan Department of Community Health has gathered experts from across the state government, local municipalities and industry groups to develop resources and materials for Michigan. The resources here are fact sheets to assist in bed bug control.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed this document to highlight emerging public health issues associated with bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) in communities throughout the United States.

This unique study show how a canine can sniff out the bed bug, Cimex lectularius L., like other bed bug species, is difficult to visually locate because it is cryptic. Detector dogs are useful for locating bed bugs because they use olfaction rather than vision. Dogs were trained to detect the bed bug (as few as one adult male or female) and viable bed bug eggs by using a food and verbal reward system.
